Priorities
Shafiq will focus on adopting business-friendly policies and practices to support projects that are beneficial to the city’s economic development. With projects like the upcoming Medley development, which will enhance Johns Creek’s appeal to businesses and create new opportunities for growth and investment, he believes the city has a tremendous opportunity to increase its commercial tax base–a critical step in sustaining a high quality of life for residents.
Shafiq has valuable experience working with nonprofits and understands the positive impact they have on our communities. He will work to ensure nonprofits continue to have the resources they need to play an active role in Johns Creek.
Shafiq is committed to making the arts a vibrant part of everyday life in Johns Creek, especially for our youth. He believes the arts are not only essential to personal and cultural enrichment but also serve as a powerful economic driver for our city. As such, Shafiq will support the development of the Johns Creek Performing Arts Center, a creative hub for learning, community gathering, and celebrating the visual and performing arts in our diverse city. The center will serve as a permanent home for the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, The Arts Center, and other local artists, strengthening our economy while enhancing the lives of all residents.
As a longtime advocate for parks and recreation, Shafiq aims to continue building a healthier, more connected Johns Creek. Leveraging his experience as Chair of the Recreation and Parks Committee, he will expand youth sports opportunities, support the creation of new trails that link neighborhoods, and grow Cauley Creek Park and the upcoming Boardwalk at Town Center into true community destinations.
Shafiq knows that the future of Johns Creek lies in the hands of its youth. As a proud supporter of our top-ranked schools, he is committed to ensuring they continue to thrive–not only academically, but as spaces where students grow into leaders. Shafiq will advocate for more opportunities in civic engagement, leadership development, arts, sports, and wellness programs that help shape well-rounded, confident young people. By investing in our youth today, we build a stronger, more resilient Johns Creek for tomorrow.
Shafiq knows that with growth comes responsibility. He understands that a thriving city needs a strong, well-resourced public safety infrastructure. As Johns Creek expands, Shafiq will advocate for increased investment in public safety, ensuring our police force and fire department have the resources they need to keep our neighborhoods and businesses secure. Shafiq is the proactive leader we need to protect our city’s future.
