Shafiq’s involvement as a board member of the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation has allowed him to understand the needs of the Fire and Police personnel and their families. He is also a graduate of the Johns Creek Citizens Police Academy. Currently, Shafiq serves on the Police Chief’s Community Ambassador Team to help the police department recognize the needs of our community and the issues of importance for the residents.

Shafiq’s involvement with the Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee for 6 years and most recently, as Chairperson, has allowed him to be a thought leader for our new parks, including Cauley Creek Park and the upcoming Boardwalk at Town Center.

Shafiq currently serves as a board member for the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra. His enthusiasm for the arts stems from the knowledge that arts play an instrumental role in improving the quality of life, particularly for our youth, and creating an opportunity for community engagement.

Shafiq has spent years working with the City of Johns Creek to help establish Cricket infrastructure to meet the needs of our diverse residents. He is known as “Mr. Cricket” in Johns Creek. Shafiq was inducted in the USA Cricket Hall of Fame in 2022 in Connecticut for his service over the years to the sport in the United States.

Shafiq served as a board member for the second busiest Art Center in Georgia for 7 years to inspire artistic development for our youth and adults. The organization provides affordable quality cultural arts education to the residents in Johns Creek.

Shafiq is a member of the Class of 2016 and has continued to remain active as mentor to develop, energize, and activate community leaders in Johns Creek. Leadership Johns Creek stands as a beacon for transformative community engagement and personal development in Johns Creek.

A passionate believer in empowering our youth, Shafiq has contributed his time and expertise to organizations that foster education, leadership development, and social responsibility. Shafiq has tremendous admiration for the Student Leadership North program, formerly known as Student Leadership Johns Creek. He frequently gets invited to speak with the high school students on the topics of leadership and civic engagement.
